During the summer, you will read Rumble Fish by S.E. Hinton. Upon completion of the novel, you will design an eye-catching book cover that will advertise the story. Be sure to use your space effectively and give relevant information to your audience.

Summer Reading Grade 8 Book Cover Project
During the summer, you will read Rumble Fish by S.E. Hinton. Upon completion of the novel, you will design an eye-catching book cover that will advertise the story. Be sure to use your space effectively and give relevant information to your audience.
1. FRONT COVER
- Create an original symbol that represents the novel. Do not draw the image that is on the actual book!
- Display the book’s title and author.
2. FRONT (LEFT) FLAP
- Write your first/last name and class section (for my class).
- Write an explanation for your choice of symbol on the front cover, and why it is symbolic.
3. BACK (RIGHT) FLAP
- Select an exciting scene from the story; one that captured your attention, and summarize it in (1) paragraph.
- Use your own words with sufficient detail.
4. BACK COVER
- Summarize the story, from the beginning to end, in (3) short paragraphs.
- Use necessary information only.
5. GRAMMAR/MECHANICS
- Be sure to proofread your writing for spelling/capitalization/punctuation.
- Use a variety of sentence types and words.
6. OVERALL APPEARANCE
- Neat and Organized
- Printed/outlined neatly or Typed
- Colorful
- Creative
